DUAL international Lote Tuqiri will line up for the Classic Wallabies rugby union team when they take on the Barbarians at Crozier Field, Lismore.

Tuqiri will be joined by the likes of former Australian players Drew Mitchell, Morgan Turinui, Radike Samo, Brendan Cannon and Adam Freier with a handful of local players in the mix for the October 24 clash.

Wollongbar-Alstonville hooker Bill Johnston has been named in the side with more players with links to the Far North Coast to be added next week.

Former Wallabies flanker Owen Finegan will coach the side with Stephen Hoiles also involved.

"We are so tremendously excited to have a rugby fixture of international quality taking place in Lismore and to have Owen Finegan as Classic Wallabies coach along with this line-up of Australian rugby icons is a significant coup for the fixture,” Lismore City Council tourism and events manager Mitch Lowe said.

"Grandstand tickets are almost sold out, so anyone who's keen to see this match had better hurry.”

Australian radio personality Alan Jones is coaching the Barbarians and fans will have the opportunity to hear from Jones at An Afternoon with Alan Jones luncheon on the Sunday before the game.

Jones was a successful Wallabies coach winning the Grand Slam in his first year as coach in 1984 and the Bledisloe in 1986.

This match will be his comeback to rugby union coaching after 30 years off.

As part of the their tour, the Barbarians will play Michael Cheika's Wallabies on October 28 in Sydney.

Jones is still to name his side but has already announced five-eighth Quade Cooper as captain for that clash.

It is not known yet if Cooper will be putting the boots on in Lismore.

It will be the first time the Classic Wallabies have played in regional New South Wales with money raised going towards ongoing flood relief.

Jones will be joined by players from both teams at the Lismore Turf Club for the lunch.
