39,000 people hired to carry out census
THE Australian Bureau of Statistics has hired 39,000 people and rolled out the technology it needs to conduct this year's census.
The August 9 population count will be the largest online event in Australia's history.
About two thirds of the population are expected to complete the form digitally. Census spokesman Duncan Young said four years of planning was about to come to fruition. Instruction letters and forms will be delivered in late July and early August.
The first results will be released in April.
