Teen recovering from deadly snake bite

A TEENAGER, bitten by one of the world's deadliest snakes in the NSW Hunter Valley, is recovering well in hospital.

Police are keen to ask the 17-year-old boy how he came in contact with an Inland Taipan hundreds of kilometres away from the reptile's home turf.

The boy was rushed to the Mater Hospital after he told nurses at the Kurri Kurri emergency department he had been bitten on the left hand by a snake late Wednesday.

The snake was also taken to the hospital where it was identified by local wildlife volunteers.
