Mitchell Starc key for Sydney Sixers once more

THE Sydney Sixers will be benefit once again from having paceman Mitchell Starc on deck for the team's clash against the Perth Scorchers at the SCG tonight.

Starc - released from the Australian Test squad - took 1-36 in his team's 16-run win over the Thunder on Saturday night.

His wicket was a gem - an inswinging yorker that knocked over South African legend Jacques Kallis, in doing so shattering the stump camera.

Fellow express quick Brett Lee also was pivotal in the Sixers' win over their cross-town rivals, taking 1-28 and proving he's still got it at 38.

The Scorchers will also fancy their chances with the ball after left-arm opener Jason Behrendorff's outstanding showing in Perth's win over the Renegades on Friday.

He took 2-16 off four overs, stemming the flow of the destructive Aaron Finch.

Behrendorff leads the competition for wickets with six to his name, despite having played one game less than most of his opponents, with Perth having a bye in the opening round.

When he is not taking wickets, he's regularly bowling dot balls, operating at an average of 6.33 and an economy rate of 4.75.

A key battle will be Behrendorff versus Sixers opening batsman Nic Maddinson.

The 23-year-old stumbled for 12 against the Thunder, but has already compiled 125 runs across his three matches, with an average of 62.5 and a punishing strike rate of almost 165.

These two teams share a highly-competitive history, with the Scorchers beating them by five runs in a rain-affected semi-final in the last BBL campaign, before going on to win the title.
