Byron principal's letter of praise to Year 12 students

"DEAR Year 12 of 2016,

I'd like to say a massive thank you to all of you for making my role as year adviser the most enjoyable and rewarding experience of my teaching career.

You have shared so many special memories during your time at school. From Year 7 camp and the Sydney excursion to the Italy exchange program and the Japan trip plus all of the end-of-year trips to the theme parks for well- deserved fun.

There have also been lots of challenges to overcome and you should all feel very proud of your achievements.

All those hours spent studying and preparing for exams have been so worth it.

Reading all your reports every semester gave me an insight into your talents and made me realise how lucky I was to be part of this special year.

You all deserve recognition for the way in which you have treated and supported each other.

Your friends are extremely important and it made me so proud to see the way you interacted with each other every day.

As you head off all around the world make sure that you maintain contact with each other. Friendships are forever and you have all shared so many memories.

You must now venture off into the world and work towards achieving your goals; and if your passion and work ethic at Byron High is anything to go by I'm sure that each and every one of you will make your mark on the world in some way.

You all have the potential to achieve great success.

My advice to you - pursue your passion, do what you love and aim to make a difference in the world.

I urge you to be the best person you can be and make sure you have fun doing it.

Keep me updated on all your adventures. I will always be there for you."

Curtis Miles

Year 12 adviser,

Byron Bay High School.
